Basic Soap Making

Making your own soap can be a fun hobby, and can also be very eco-friendly and cost-effective. As you learn the process in this class, we will create a small batch of soap together. You will learn important safety measures when working with lye, and we will talk about different oils that can be used in the process. Take your soap with you, along with instructions to finish at home and recipes to use in the future.

Make a Lavender Wreath

Wreaths are a simple and beautiful way to bring a touch of lavender into your home. In this course, you will learn to work with dried lavender and watch your wreath bloom as you complete each step in the process. In addition to completing a boxed, decorative 12-inch circular lavender wreath to give as a gift or enjoy for years to come, Mike will address problems that arise when working with dried herbs and flowers, and you will learn how best to display your creation. Driving directions to the farm will be provided upon registration.

Make Your Own Laundry Soap

Learn how making your own laundry soap is fun, easy and saves you money! During this Saturday morning class, we will work together to make a small batch of powdered laundry soap that is tough enough for nasty stains, yet safe for sensitive skin and babies, and you’ll only need one tablespoon per load of laundry. Your course fee includes everything you need to make your soap and you will take home your own 6½ pound batch!

So You Inherited Your Uncle's Coin Collection…Now What?

You may have an existing coin collection or you may not know the difference between a penny and a nickel. Either way, you will learn something new about coins during this single-session course. For beginners and advanced collectors alike, our discussion will be guided by your questions and the coins you bring with you. We will talk about the physical coins, as well as their value and history. There is no prior knowledge needed for this discussion-based course. Please bring your coins and questions!
